Everyone agrees tricks are harder on a mtb. They are easier to handle in the air, which is why dirt jumping contests and world first tricks are separated between the two. All I'm saying is it costs less to buy and maintain a bmx bike. Some people are more comfortable on a mtb dj, and that's fine. As for bigger trails, are you riding bigger stuff than this? A common misconception is that all bmx bikes are small, but there are different lengths to fit people over 6'5" comfortably. I have seen way more taco'd wheels and people going over the bars on mtb's, even snapping suspension forks off their bikes.Īs long as you're riding the right size, a bmx bike is just as stable on well built jumps. You have more room to absorb a hard landing between your body and the bike. This just tells me you don't have much experience on bmx bikes.

It can add so much fundamental skill, and change your perspective from riding the bike as a vehicle, to instead using it as a lever against the ground, taking your mountain bike handling to another level as well.
